LAN File Transfer
Transfer files and text directly between devices on the same local network via WebRTC — no server required
What is LAN File Transfer?
LAN File Transfer uses WebRTC technology to let two devices on the same local network transfer files and text directly — without going through any external server. Data is transmitted peer-to-peer between devices, making it fast and secure.
Simply scan a QR code to quickly share files between phones, tablets, and computers. The entire transfer stays within your local network, protecting your privacy.
How to Use
Basic Steps
- On one device, click "Create Connection" — a QR code will be displayed
- On another device, scan the QR code — the page will open automatically and generate a response code
- Use the first device to scan the response code — the connection is now established
- Once connected, both devices can exchange text messages and files
Key Features
Frequently Asked Questions
Do both devices need to be on the same local network?
Yes, both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi or LAN. If they're on different networks, it may still work via NAT traversal, but success depends on your network environment.
How fast is the transfer?
LAN transfer speed depends on your network bandwidth, typically reaching 10–100 MB/s — much faster than transferring through the internet.
What's the maximum file size?
There's theoretically no file size limit — files are automatically split into chunks for transfer. However, due to browser memory constraints, it's recommended to keep individual files under 2 GB.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Data is encrypted via WebRTC and only travels within your local network, never passing through any external server.
