Q: What ID card formats are supported?
A: Supports 18-digit and 15-digit Chinese mainland resident ID card numbers. 18-digit IDs are validated with checksum, and 15-digit IDs are automatically converted to 18-digit format.
Q: How is the ID card checksum validated?
A: The last digit of an 18-digit ID is the checksum, calculated from the first 17 digits according to ISO 7064:1983 standard. The tool automatically validates the checksum.
Q: How to determine gender from an ID number?
A: The 17th digit (second to last) of an 18-digit ID indicates gender: odd = male, even = female. For 15-digit IDs, the 15th digit indicates gender.
Q: Can it handle ID numbers with spaces or other characters?
A: The tool automatically filters out spaces and other non-numeric characters (except X) from ID numbers to ensure correct parsing.
Q: How is the age calculated?
A: Age is precisely calculated based on the birth date in the ID number and the current date, using the full-year calculation method. If this year's birthday hasn't passed yet, the age is reduced by 1.
